Why does one face sorrow and problems in life? What can allay the anxiety and stress inherent in the materialistic modern society? How can one get in touch with higher consciousness and strike a balance between the spiritual and worldly goals? If you are looking for answers to questions like these and searching for ways to empower your life, begin the quest with this volume, which presents the essence of one of the world’s most…

The mention of the word ‘Bhagwad Gita’ is enough to put anyone in a state of transcendental bliss. This is the tome that Hindus turn to in moments of doubt, uncertainty or grief. This is the tome that helps to centre our turbulent thoughts and gives us direction when we feel bereft. Our homes are incomplete without a volume in them and our lives are empty without these teachings that have been instilled in us since birth. And, it’s not just Hindus but followers of other religions in countries apart from India who is recognizing the timeless wisdom of this epic.

The ‘Bhagwad Gita’ may have been written ages ago in the past but the wisdom that it imparts is most needed now, in the present ages. And, that is what Richa Tilokani has attempted to do. She has taken the teachings that we have taken for granted in our lives and explained them to us in the most simple of manners.

The 228-page volume is a compilation of 18 chapters that deal with different nuggets of wisdom that the ‘Bhagwad Gita’ carries. But, that is not all that the chapters contain. Richa has not just reproduced selected text from the ‘Bhagwad Gita’ but has gone a step ahead to explain why the words hold relevance in today’s age. Hence, what was written ages ago, via Richa’s words becomes something that you find yourself seeking meaning in today. Each chapter also empowers the readers with the tools that they need to ward off negativity and pessimism. Richa elucidates in a point-wise fashion how we can adopt certain techniques to elevate the quality of our life and to turn it towards a more positive attitude and outcomes. Richa elaborates at the end of each chapter how adopting and implementing the teachings of the ‘Bhagwad Gita’ in our lives will benefit us.

This is a book that brings together the twin benefits of age-old wisdom and yoga to help people recognize and realize their fallacies. This is a book that like the ‘Bhagwad Gita’ shows you the path that you must take in order to purge negativity from your life and system. This is a book that is not just another self-help book. This is a book that is a self-realization book. It makes you take a pause and reflect. It makes you stop and think so that you may correct your path now for a better tomorrow.

The book is written in impeccable English and is pretty self-explanatory. Richa has kept the interpretation of the text simple and easy to understand.

If you are fond of reading only fiction or non-fiction, then this is not a book for you. I would recommend this book to those who carry a love for theology, mythology or philosophy. Anyone who is spiritually inclined or likes dabbling in body restorative techniques would be able to decipher the deeper meaning of this book. As I said earlier, this is not just another book. It is a realization of the way of life. And, unless you are willing to introspect, realise and adopt the teachings, you would not be doing this book justice.
