Shroud of the night

Shroud of the night

O Come steal over me gently O shroud of the night,
Caress me with your soft silken touch
O envelope me, embrace me, rob me of my sight.

Lay over me like a lover; touch me gently like a sprite,
Sink me into a dream, wondrous and such
O Come steal over me gently O shroud of the night.

On the wings of dreams, carry me like a celestial knight
And show me sights that I have seen not much.
O envelope me, embrace me, rob me of my sight.

Let my hopes rejoice with the stars that shine on so bright.
Show me dreams that I can hold onto, clutch.
O Come steal over me gently O shroud of the night.

Let me dream on, let my dreams soar high like the kite,
Give them a purpose, be their crutch.
O envelope me, embrace me, rob me of my sight.

Do not portend to be the omen of bad, a black blight.
Be the harbinger of good, be my scotch.
O Come steal over me gently O shroud of the night.
O envelope me, embrace me, rob me of my sight.
