A Futile Effort

A Futile Effort

I tread
Softly across
The expanse speckled with
Obstacles and hidden hurdles
I dread

I doubt
I can make it
Without meeting my fall
Considering the consequence
I pout

I think
Of forfeiting
But craving was stronger
For the other and greener side
I slink

I step
Over first snag
And let out anguished howl
An expletive hurled at LEGO
I prep

For the
Awakened and
Wailing baby, and bid
The tempting couch and beauty sleep
