What personal data we collect and why we collect it-

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We collect your email address in order to:

  1. Subscribe you to our monthly writing events

  2. Send information, respond to enquiries, and/or other requests or questions

  3. Process orders and to send information and updates pertaining to orders.

We agree to:

  1. Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.

  2. Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.

  3. Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters.

  4. Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.

  5. Honour opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.

  6. Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email.

If you would like to unsubscribe from receiving emails, you can email us at penmagica@gmail.com with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line. We will remove you from all mailing lists.

We are an Amazon Affiliate and any advertisements related to their products would display on our website.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data to anybody for any reason whatsoever. If you have won a contest at Penmancy and earned yourself a prize which is sponsored by a third party, then we may share your address and phone number with them to have your prize delivered to you.

Payment processors

At present we do not have these services. However, in case of any future medium of payments is facilitated on the website, please be assured that we shall have no access to your credit card information. Payments would be processed through external payment modes.

Social Media Platforms

If you sign-up or login using a social media platform you grant them access to your information. You can manage this from within the social media platform.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. But your data is checked by us in person and not sent anywhere.

If you sign up through our contact section, we store your username and e-mail address on our server.

How we protect your data

Your data is stored on our secure server. We have taken a number of precaution to protect your data. Such as not storing any data that could be used to impersonate you. We do not record any data used other than your name and email address.

Our server is kept up-to-date and protected by our IT team as well as third party security partners.

What third parties we receive data from

We receive no data other than what you give us. The content that we receive from your in our mailbox is shared through our website in its truest form and shall not be taken down without your prior permission. Please check our Terms of Use before placing your requests.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We believe that all decisions about data should be made by a person not a computer and as such we do not use automated profiling. All decisions regarding behaviour are reviewed by us manually.

Cookies

Our website requires cookies to operate. They allow us to use things like social media plugins and to allow you to use our online courses. Cookies are also use for analytic purposes to tell us, for example, when the busiest time for our website is.
