A Vacation, A Tragedy

A Vacation, A Tragedy

A pretty walk along the beach

With her family was all she wanted
A huge wave, she was out of reach

The rules in her mind, she never did breach
The water around her legs taunted
She countered to the call of the beach

A teasing smile, a sudden screech,
The waves pulled as she was gusted
Her mother’s hand she wasn’t able to reach

Unexpected was the sea’s angry leash
She struggled to breathe as water flooded,
And she was pulled away from the beach

The cries of her mother stopped midspeech
The panic gone, her soul departed,
The silence and the noise beyond reach

A moment of happiness life did teach
Can turn into a sorrow, life is twisted,
A beautiful holiday by the beach
Family vacations shattered and out of reach
