Oh, we’ve walked a long way together…
She leading first with her tender feet
while I struggled to find mine…
Her eyes bequeathing visions
Though neither she nor I
could foresee exactly why
or where the path led and for how long
Her lips and fingertips
vessels of senses brewing magic
forging intense this affiliation
inching on and growing as one
Oh, how she braced and faced
every stone thrown my way and hers
And I in return stood stubborn and strong
holding her up all along
to walk ahead and grow, evolve
She was the body, I the resolve
She the tangible whole, I the transcendental soul
Now, I often tell her this friendship is temporary
“I will leave you one day”
She says nothing, she’s used to change.
