An Afterthought

An Afterthought

A hushed playdate it was
Five close friends
Eager to play the new game bought
‘Six players’ said the clause
Secret ends
“Let us call her”; an afterthought

A sweet romance it was
Blue eyed boy
Married the princess he had sought
Daughter of his rich boss
A prized toy
“And she is nice” ; an afterthought

A tragic loss it was
Her fears alone she bravely fought
To help, no one did pause
Once she died
“Wish we had talked”; an afterthought
