Ballad of Lost Love

Why was it destined that you and I should meet
To savour and be devoured by that emotion called love
Your name,  now a refrain, that echoes in every heartbeat

Heartbreak and poetry are but twins so sweet
A solace for all broken hearts sent  from above
Why was it destined that you and I should meet

You have moved on and no longer even greet
I and heartache now work together, hand in glove
Your name, now a refrain, that echoes in every heartbeat

Your memories cascade making  my soul deplete
The many times you swore I was your only love
Why was it destined that you and I should meet

The love we shared, the hugs n kisses were such  a treat
I’m no longer alive when push comes to shove
Your name, now a refrain that echoes in every heartbeat

The rejection and dejection find it hard to compete
With the passion and yearning sweet as a dove
Why was it destined that you and I should meet
Your name, now a refrain that echoes in every heartbeat
