Burning Summer

Burning Summer

There’s a summer burning
in my heart
blazing through my bountiful lands
despair and hate churning
each a dart
thrown from their ruthless hands

A shower long and cool
is my need
to wash away the sooty ash
lest I become a ghoul
eat n bleed
joy, gaiety with cuts and slash

Deliver from this hell
I beg thee
lend me a helping hand to cross
this land where I now dwell
help me flee
pray that I gather all my loss.
