Changing Hues

Changing Hues

Hues in the sky, splattered colours amass
I watch them changing shade by shade, transfixed
From orange to red to that dark purple
The colour of my deeply wounded heart
Crippling, incurable, raw, unpleasant

Ah, how we loved to look at the sunset
Hand in hand, making dreamy promises
Wishful thinking of what the future holds
Something so sublime turned so deceitful
The sunset, your love, your longing for me

The cruel lies of being there for me
Where were you, my beloved Promiser…
When storms turned unseasonably severe?
Tucked away in adulterine haven?
