Write a 13-line poem comprised of a quatrain and 3 tercets
Here are the basic guidelines for this poetic form:
- This form was invented by the poet Charles A. Stone
- A structured poetic form that relies heavily on repetition to build rhythm, emphasis, and depth
- Consists of exactly 13 lines broken into 4 stanzas:
- Stanza 1: 4 lines (a quatrain)
- Stanza 2: 3 lines (a tercet; must begin with line 2 of the first stanza)
- Stanza 3: 3 lines (a tercet; must begin with line 3 of the first stanza)
- Stanza 4: 3 lines (a tercet; must begin with line 4 of the first stanza)
No rules regarding meter, line length, or rhyme scheme. You can write it in free verse, inject a strict rhyme scheme, or play with syllable counts as you see fit.
