A dragonfly set out to explore
She flew up high so she could see more
Gliding on air she saw the sun shining bright
Her wings shimmered and shone in the morning light
Extending her wings higher still she flew
Leaving familiar sights far behind
Flying on, refused to stay confined
Meeting strangers, she took great delight
Some of them engaged her in a fight;
Triumphant, the heights she continued to climb.
She flew past mountains and rivers deep
Foregoing hunger, forgetting sleep
Flying on till she could see no more
She started to dive; her wings were sore
Graceful she fell, her life’s adventure complete.
