For the First Time

We’re all sitting at home,
Bored, with nowhere to roam.
In front of our screens,
With views definitely not serene.

I’m missing out on the games we played in the park,
What brought to our lives the most lively spark.
All that used to be sublime,
Isn’t so this year for the first time!

I’m missing out on meeting my friends,
But I keep on reminding myself, friendship never ends.
We can’t meet those who in our lives are divine,
This year for the first time!

I’m missing out on face to face learning,
For me that’s very concerning.
A teacher’s words are most prime,
But not for now, this year for the first time!

This pandemic will soon end too,
Together we will stand bidding adieu.
There will once again be sunshine,
But for now, stay home for the last time!
