I would rather be quiet than speak to please
I prefer distance than being too near for ease
But I love the pleasure of an effortless talk
In the lap of nature on a countryside walk
To an animated self, questions I shoot
To find the answers my senses cahoot
Words don’t come out without enough thought
They stay in, where all the battles are fought
The lips stay mum yet ears do the listening
Eyes blink slowly, understanding thickening
I can feel the ground touching my feet say
‘Don’t fret. Everything’s gonna be okay!’
The fragrant breeze breaks into an applause
Tells me to come often to reflect and pause
To keep solitude at the front of the shelf
And seek my truths in conversations with self
