Independence day is a joyous day,
Patriotism oozing out everywhere,
Tri colour flying high at all places,
the love for the country, omnipresent.

Is this display of patriotism true?
Does one even remember the martyrs?
The blood and sweat they shed for many years,
The small efforts taken, known and unknown.

With the only aim of Free India,
a few embraced death with smiling faces.

Finally when the Britishers agreed,
they poisoned the minds using religion,
Sadly, the country continues this fight,
the question is, are we really free?
