I Don’t Wanna Grow Up

I Don’t Wanna Grow Up

I don’t wanna grow up
But stay grounded like a shrub
Defying the rusted norms,
I’ll live life on my own terms
And not be a part of social hubbub.

If growing up means learning to snub
Joining the discrimination club
Only to follow the stale reforms
Then, I don’t wanna grow up.

When maturing means failing to disrupt
The system and practices corrupt,
Compromising to get along with the swarms
Just to stay safe in the manmade storms
Assuring the world that I ain’t no scrub
Then, I don’t wanna grow up.

  1. I don’t want to grow…and be part of social hubbub…How true! Liked the innocent defiance in your short but effective poem, Moumita.
