Behind a smiling face, a pale heart lies
Within, a spirit lives on -broken, cold
For when you left, by God, you scarred him deep
Forgetting you seems hard, he claims, but tries

How can a love once dearly shared break ties
And throw away a future both did plan;
What use is love or loving someone if
Behind a smiling face a pale heart lies?

I know not all the answers; so his eyes –
Eyes that glimmer in sadness -hurting, sore
So if you ask me how he feels, I’d say
Forgetting you seems hard, he claims, but tries

A shattered soul, a life to heal because
