“Blank verse is poetry written with regular metrical but unrhymed lines, almost always in iambic pentameter (which for our present purpose can be considered equivalent to 10 syllables). It is probably the most common form of poetry in English and nearly 75% of the poems written are in blank verse.

Rules:

  1. Your poem may or may not have stanzas.
  2. Your poem/s must follow the syllable count.
(To check syllable count, use this link: https://www.howmanysyllables.com/syllable_counter/)
  3. All poems must have a title.
  4. Poem/s must be the entrant’s original work and entries must not have been previously published elsewhere. NO PLAGIARISM, please!
  5. You may submit up to 3 entries (or any additional as guest entries).
  6. Send your poems to penmagica@gmail.com in a word document along with your bio in 2-3 lines (in the third person) — need not to send if previously sent, lest you need them updated. You may also submit the cover of your poem. (optional)
  7. The closing date of the event is April 20, 2019. Results will be announced on April 26, 2019.
