Prisoner

Prisoner

Do you hold the keys,
to your own prison?
How often do you
Look at it?
Pondering the possibility,
of losing it…
Along with your sanity,
And bargained freedom…
Do you tremble
or worry, too much
That it’s only an illusion?
Where do you keep it,
Hidden and obscured?
Sometimes it’s visible though,
In the sparkle of your eyes
When the shadows
are gone
And sometimes
I look for it
In the words that you speak
I almost see it,
In your smile, hoping for more
But you hide it again
You are scared of
Breaking your prison walls
Or opening them
With that key
Till sunlight becomes you
And breath becomes air.
