Zahira’s reel was trending. The response to #SaveStella from a terminal disease was phenomenal. As an animal activist, Zahira was always on her toes to help them. The campaign was started by her to save the stray bitch.
Out of the hundreds of messages, there was one DM that had sent a link for help.
On clicking, she was directed to the appointment page of one of the world’s biggest hospital, Care for All (CFA). She booked an appointment and was informed that the Mr. Lee, the HOD of the veterinarian department, would take the meeting.
On the appointed day, she received a call on her Instagram account from an unknown handle @smilelee.01. Picking up, a male voice asked, “Zahira, is that right?”
“Yes, who is this?” she said.
“I’m Yin Lee from CFA Hospital. I suppose you have an appointment for today.”, said the voice.
“Yes sir, I do have an appointment.”, she answered.
“Can we have our meeting on a video call, miss? That would help to connect better. “, asked the HOD.
“Yes, sure sir.”, she said.
The moment Mr. Lee came on camera, her heart skipped a beat. That cute smile and charming eyes were hypnotic. He was casting a spell on her, making her speechless. She had frozen.
“Hello, are you there miss?”, inquired he.
“Yes Mr. Lee, I’m here. Sorry, there is some network issue.”, was all she could answer.
“Oh, don’t be so formal. Call me Yin.”, smiled the man.
There again her heart was pounding. She couldn’t take her eyes off from the screen.
At the end of the meeting, Zahira was given assurance that Stella’s treatment would be completely funded by the hospital.
The meeting lasted fifteen minutes and those were the best fifteen minutes of her life. Later, her fingers typed @smilelee.01 in the search box.
Yin too was captivated by those brown eyes on the screen. Her simplicity had made an impression on him. The yearning to find out more about her was making him anxious. He checked the handle @zahir.2563.
Zahira followed @smilelee.01 and was followed back. Their regular insta chats made them digital mates. At first it was formal talk but soon it invaded into their personal space. Within few months, they knew all about each other’s lives. The seed of love had germinated and was growing at a fast pace.
Living thousands of miles apart, their connection was only through the digital world. Virtual kisses and hugs had been exchanged many times. Emotionally they were one but they yearned to be in each other’s arms. The real world was waiting for another happily ever after.
At last, they met at the adoption event of Stella. Their eyes locked when they saw each other in person. Mesmerized, neither of them said anything. A sudden push from behind broke the spell and they both smiled. They attended the event holding each other’s hands.
