Shadow at High Noon

Shadow at High Noon

Absorbed into my own skin
Into the darkness, transfixed
Partly eclipsed
I spin..

Like a self-centred shadow
opaque to the light,
Oblivious to what’s right,
I get sucked into the dark shallows

Was it without a fragment of resistance?
Or was it shard by shard?
Broken pieces of me, charred
Ashes re-joined into the black vortex in an instance

Drawn in by my grey smudged eyes…
Deeper than the black of my carbon black kohl
Almost In step, doing salsa with my other side
