Muffled crooning echoes deep, glistening my core
Still unblemished despite being put to sleep

Pursued by disgruntled maternal feelings
I succumb, humming a silent lullaby
Bedraggled memoir put to rest
Buried ‘neath unfulfilled promises to motherhood.
