Singer of the Century

Singer of the Century

Hey you unseen vestal spirit of joy!
Your undeterred perky strain enthralls heart,
Are you hiding in some gulch cryptic bush,
Or in nature’s parade some dimmish toy?

You purvey the song of the century
For you have swift access to homy hearth,
You viewed pots, that could only boil the broth,
To meet dearth that emerged from flood or drought.

You have tales of undaunted warriors
For you witnessed the reeks, mounted from pyres,
The unsung odes of accrued offerings
That has dwindled in sediments of time.

You are the minstrel of the century,
Whose dulcet tunes plant life in inert souls.
