I feel I am, no less than a brave soldier
Stoic and honorable in discharging my duty
I live in a battle field, day in and day out
Of stilted conversations and tension.
I feel I am, no less than any good person
Doing dutifully what is expected of me
I too never waver from what needs to be done
Inspite of monosyllabic conversations and disdain.
I feel I am, no less than those millions of ladies
All striving to be good daughters-in-law, who know
That all their hard work and dedication is for naught
For conversations have now tapered into hard silences.
Still, there is a need to go on and not give up
For I was taught such morals; sometimes a burden
Though they do not think so, they think the worse
Yet I hope for a few single-line conversations.
