The Kite

The Kite

A new kite once wished to fly,
I let it go up the sky.

‘Twas tethered to a string below,
I steered it as the wind did blow.

And while it flew as far as it could,
Gazing at it I lovingly stood.

O’er time it enjoyed flying far than near,
Having conquered great heights it lost its fear.

Alas! From my control it yearned to be free,
‘Cause the limitless sky it wanted to see.

Detached, it began to soar,
Traversing heights even more.

Wandering to an unknown place,
Betwixt buildings it lost its pace.

Wounded, it plummeted to the ground,
At last with me it was safe and sound.
