The Three Sheep
left alone by someone
in the fair fields
are the three sheep.
Mother and her babies
lonely, looking for company
with desperate eyes.
A price they paid
heavily for having
strayed into new ground.
The herd has returned
nonchalantly so
to their daily abode
to a warm bath and supper
to a wholesome reward
for rules they followed.
sad it may seem
but to follow the herd
though nothing new is still normal.
