Unheard Pleas

Unheard Pleas

I am different but I haven’t sinned
Alas! I shed silent tears
I yearn to be free, why can’t you see?
Will you please put an end to my fears?

All my pleas seem to fall on deaf ears
Trapped in a body unknown
Why can’t you see? I yearn to be free
My identity seems to be torn

I too deserve a place in this world
For my rights, why should I fight?
I yearn to be free, why can’t you see?
I don’t wish to remain out of sight

With my head held high, I wish to walk
Embracing my choice with pride
Why can’t you see? I yearn to be free
Accept me, set all taboos aside.
