When Time Stood Still

Two lovers,
not young, but aged like fine wine,
seven years woven into the fabric of their lives.
Each moment shared,
a brushstroke on the canvas of their hearts—
laughter spilling like sunlight
through the branches of a whispering tree,
whispers that danced softly
in the corners of a cozy café,
where time felt like a friend,
and the world outside faded into a gentle hum.

Yet, life twisted its cruel fingers,
and now, the echoes of their laughter
have become distant memories,
the space between them stretching like a rubber band—
taut, ready to snap.
Time slipped away,
like grains of sand falling through their fingers,
each tick of the clock a reminder
of unshared moments—the warmth of an embrace,
the sweetness of secrets spilled over candlelight dinners,
the way their hands fit together like pieces of a puzzle,
molding into one beautiful picture.

Today, hope flickered in their hearts,
like a candle swaying in the wind,
as they yearned for just a few stolen moments.
“Just a minute,” they told themselves,
“Just one heartbeat, one shared smile.”
But fate, draped in shadows,
weighed heavy on their hearts.
“Not today,” it seemed to whisper,
as time conspired to keep them apart,
like waves retreating from the shore,
erasing the footprints of their love,
leaving only traces of what once was.

In this aching silence,
longing blossomed like wildflowers in spring,
for love knows no boundaries,
yet bows to time’s decree,
leaving behind shadows of what was,
and dreams that shimmer softly in the twilight.
“I’ll hold on,” they vow beneath a blanket of stars,
to the hope that this is not the end,
to the promise that love will find a way.

For in this quiet,
their hearts beat together,
a symphony of unfulfilled promises,
waiting for the day when time will yield,
when they can dance again beneath the moonlight,
lost in each other’s eyes,
where love breathes freely,
like a bird breaking free from its cage,
ready to soar through the skies,
into each other’s arms once more,
to feel the warmth of their love
wrap around them like a familiar blanket,
soft and reassuring,
reminding them that they are never truly apart—
not in this life, nor the next,
for true love knows no bounds,
and even time must one day yield
to the power of their hearts.
