Sahab is a nice man. I have been working here for twenty years and I have never seen anyone return empty-handed from his abode.” Rahimji patted Salim - a lean, be-speckled guy. Rahimji worked as a khansama at Sahab’s residence. Sahab had multiple businesses spread across the globe. Sahab is almost here.” Someone announced, bringing an end to their conversation. Food was hastily served in expensive china. A fancy buffet of mutton, chicken and beef was spread on the table along with sweets and juicy fruits and salad. The dining area was filled with the aroma of mouth-watering biryani. Hot kulchas, puris and fulkas were being prepared in the kitchen. Today was no special day, this was an everyday routine at the house. Salim peeked out of the kitchen window and saw a fleet of fancy cars stop in front of the house. Armed men quickly got out of the cars and one of them opened the door from which disembarked a man dressed in an expensive suit and leather shoes. Someone was ready with a fancy water dispenser and bowl for his hand wash. Sahab took his seat and humbly ate two fulkas with his favourite mutton. He took a little biryani in the end. The other family members ate only after he was done. He then freshened up and sat on the couch in the living room, listening to melodies.  Sahab, Rahimji wants to speak with you,'' an armed guard informed him. Sahab motioned for him to be allowed in. Sahab, this is my nephew. He recently got a job in Dubai.” Rahimji nudged Salim who bowed down. Mehnati bachha hai.” Rahimji continued. “He needs money for his flight ticket and stay for a few months. He will return it soon.” Sahab scanned Salim. “Apne watan ko chor k ja rahe ho?” Salim simply nodded. “Rahimji you’ve served us for so many years. Anything for you. Sahab motioned to his staff to get money. Salim fell on Sahab’s feet. Are uth jao barkhuddar. Be our guest till your visa and tickets are done.” The two bowed and took their leave. Salim stayed there for almost a month. He ventured to help in whatever way he could, often serving meals which always consisted of the same food. Sahab was impressed with the hard-working guy, nothing seemed to go unnoticed by his hawk-eyes. Kisi din humare kaam ayega. On his final day, he offered kheer to Sahab who looked surprised. “I am leaving tonight. I prepared this as a thank you gesture. Sahab smiled and took a little.  Kafi swadist hai,“ he gestured for more. Salim happily saw him finish the bowl and then took his leave. Jai Hind sir. The job is done.” Salim spoke on his phone before boarding his flight. ******** Next day the news of India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim being poisoned spread like wildfire. The terrorists all over were being hunted and killed by ‘unknown men’. Thus bringing an end to India’s submissive attitude.     Penmancy gets a small share of every purchase you make through these links, and every little helps us continue bringing you the reads you love!
