Esprit éphémère

You wafted into my life like a breath of fresh air, love.

Enticed me effortlessly into alluring lair, love

Like a concord of sweet sounds that calm and soothe the tired souls,

twanged the tangled strings of my broken discarded lyre, love.

I was a half starved mendicant lying sprawled listlessly

You dusted me up and filled my parched soul with nectar, love.

You were the smoothest choicest veil of muslin from muskat

Protecting my dazzled eyes from relentless sun's glare, love.

To the scorched earth of my poor beaten up and battered soul

Cool spring showers that nourish and revive, Oh you were, love!

Just as I got used to your constant comforting presence

Why, why my love you vanished traceless into thin air, love?
