Grit
All my life I have worked so hard,
The pain of efforts like a shard,
Keep on piercing my brittle soul,
I am in pieces yet am whole,
With grit I survived it.
People do fail to see me toil,
Me burning away the night oil,
The joy in my family's eyes,
that has helped me grow beyond wise,
With grit, I have learned it.
The sea tide had always been rough,
There's a crescent after a trough,
I stood by strong grabbing the sail,
nothing will my efforts derail,
With grit, I have nailed it.
God seeing from the skies above,
He who looks upon us with love,
All the tired souls that you, me are,
have to travel a journey far,
With grit, I have earned it.
