Losing You
You had always been my window
To the world outside
I would peep across your shoulders
And hug you tighter, hiding myself
In the folds of your eyes
I had not met life, without you
I would always shrink myself, fitting into your spaces
And draw across a perimeter around us
Lest you forget to turn back and see
Forget that we were actually meant to be
And yet I now sit alone here
The sun rays slant and unfriendly,
Burning the core of my eyes...
I think of you and your smile,
like clouds breaking away, without rain
Sometimes I hear your footfall, noisy and unhurried
And whenever I breathe
Somewhere I know
A million faces around me
Yet, never you.
