Maternal Mourning
A fleeting specter in the gloom,
Nightmare, haunting like a banshee's loom,
Invisible wounds, curse the womb.
Bleeding tears cascade silently, a macabre downpour,
Coos and cuddles shattered on the sorrow's jagged shore,
Emptiness grips, a suffocating, relentless uproar.
Foresaken cradle's eerie stare,
Whispers of a love's despair,
Departed, beyond repair.
A mother's anguish,
Love's bitter vanquish,
Her soul does languish.
A flicker of light,
Hope sparks in the night,
Memories ignite.
