New Beginning

Susan was sitting in black attire, sobbing like a child. Her whole world had crashed by the untimely demise of Nick, her husband. Susan and Nick met in college and married soon after completing their education.

Susan was an orphanage who grew up in Church Orphanage. She always dreamed of having her own family, but all her dreams were shattered; every corner of her house was filled with silence and grief. Nick wanted some alone time with her before they started their own family. Now that dream would remain a dream only.

Susan thought she was destined to remain alone in life. Whosoever came into her life stayed a while and vanished in thin air without leaving any footprints behind. After his burial ceremony, the house seemed incredibly quiet, and his memories haunt Susan day and night.

Fifteen days later; her doorbell rang, and a pretty woman with a six-month-old child in her arms, also dressed in black like Susan, stood at her door. Susan invited her in, and she introduced herself as Nancy, "Nick's wife."

Susan is staring at her with an expression of shock and anger. She started shouting at Nancy, "What the hell are you talking about? Nick is my husband, and he had no one else in his life. He loved me immensely, and not even in his wildest dream could he cheat me with another woman. Get out of my home right now."

Susan, I am not a liar; I married him in Singapore two years ago. Like you, Nick never mentioned to me he was married before. For the last ten days, I have had no response to my calls or replies to my messages. I called his office for his home address. From there, I learned about his sudden demise and his wife, Susan. I was as dumbfounded and angry as you when I knew about this double-faced swine husband of mine.

My son Arthur is living proof of our relationship. Nick's name is registered on his birth certificate. Susan, this is my marriage certificate with our photograph. I came from Singapore to tell you about our two-timing husband face-to-face.

He was a two-faced swine who played with our emotions. None of us mattered to him; he was having fun at our expense, and life punished him for his sins. Susan, this is my card, goodbye, Susan.

Susan sat on the sofa for a long time. After deciding she headed towards her room and stripped those black funeral weeds. She wore her favourite red outfit with matching heels. New Susan, is shining from the mirror image as she gazes into the mirror. She packed her funeral weeds with Nick's things and steered towards the church to donate.

Afterwards, she went to her favourite cafe and ordered coffee with a slice of cake to celebrate her new beginning of throwing blackness from her life and engulfing colours again.
