One morning I got up early from bed,
It was cool and fresh,
Resplendent multicolors filled the sky as the Sun rose above the horizon.
I picked up the paper and read the gruesome news,
Murder, killings , bombing, just the talk about the war.
My mind went blank, heart felt the tinge,
I stepped out into my balcony, overlooking the park,
To find some solace.
Morning walkers were running fast,
counting their steps,
But I sat on the outdoor swing ,trying to think and see beyond strife and war.
Winters were long gone ,spring with it multiple hues was here,
Tall trees were filled with new leaves,
fresh as if newly washed.
Cool breeze touched my face playing with loose strands of hair.
Squirrels were running hither and thither busy finding nuts.
Birds seemed happy, chirping loud, as if some meet was on,
Collecting twigs to make nests ,
Carrying each twig in their beaks,
And some were eating fresh fruits from overloaded trees.
The butterflies were playing ,
With the flowers,
Or were they caressing the blooms showing their hidden love.
What a sight it was , blissful seemed their life .
Away from the news of war and struggle,
I could watch them play the whole day,
But mundane activities of daily routine ,
Household chores and worries of this
life,
Were waiting to be sorted.
How I wish I could live in my world of dreams ,
Where bliss and sereneness ruled.
