Obsession's Bitter Sweet

In my mind's eye, you're all I see, Obsession's grip binds me free, Your shadow haunts, won't let me be. Memory, of tender touch now turned to aching, stinging, Love's embrace, once was sweet, now a chain, coldly unbinding, Your phantom caress, in solitude, sharply reminding. Now my dreams bleed into day, Your face is my heart's dismay, In haunting shadows, I sway. Hold tight, my thought swirls, Cold night, my heart curls, Find light, peace unfurls. Chains bind, it's not seen, Pain is sweet, yet keen, Love's play, in between. —------------------------------------ Note: In this poem I have tried to express that Psychological pain and suffering related to love can often stem from obsession, and how love can morph into an obsession that both confines and defines the self. The paradoxical nature of being consumed by thoughts of someone to the point where it feels both entrapping and liberating. There's a deep ache of longing for someone who has left an indelible mark on one's heart and mind, and the struggle to find peace within that longing.
