Pingali Venkayya – The Forgotten Hero

Pingali Venkayya – The Forgotten Hero

There was a freedom fighter named Pingali
Who was a fellow quite jolly
He worshipped the ‘Mahatma’
And designed the ‘Tiranga.’

He was an educationist
And hailed from Krishna district
A doctorate in geology
Who died in poverty.

The National flag is a symbol of pride
And is respected nationwide
He was known for his wisdom and piety
A hero, who is forgotten by the society.

Mahatma- Mahatma Gandhi
Tiranga- The Indian National Flag

  1. Now that’s one amazing piece of poetry. Not only does it follow the rules, it brings forth someone forgotten, someone who should’ve been remembered. Thank you for this take on the prompt. Hats off to Pingali Venkayya and to you.
