Anika sat on the bed, stunned. She couldn’t believe what she had just discovered in her husband’s study. The documents indicated something seriously wrong with Vikrant, her husband.

Anika and Vikrant had been married for eight years, enjoying a happy and loving marriage. However, it seemed fake now. The documents exposed false financial statements, fake accounts, and fraudulent investment schemes involving many companies they dealt with. Anika couldn’t believe her husband could do something illegal and cheat their clients out of money.

When Vikrant entered the house, Anika looked up at him. He kissed her forehead, his gentle demeanor contradicting the reality she had just uncovered.

“How are you, love?” Vikrant asked softly.

“All good, Vikrant. You’re home early today. Everything okay?” Anika inquired.

“Yeah, finished work early. Thought I’d spend some time with you,” Vikrant said lovingly.

Anika stared at him, knowing his reality. Vikrant noticed her hesitance and reached out.

“Answer my questions, Vikrant,” she replied firmly.

“What happened?” he asked, cupping her cheek.

“What’s this, VIkrant?” she asked, showing him the documents.

“Where did you find these, Anika?” Vikrant shouted, trying to snatch the papers, but she pulled away.

“In the study. You’re betraying our clients, why?” Anika demanded, her voice firm and pained.

“Many people practice it. What’s the big deal if I’m doing it?” Vikrant shrugged.

“It’s a big deal, Vikrant! When did you start running behind money and cheating people?” Anika asked angrily.

“Oh, don’t make a fuss. We’re getting money, and that’s what matters,” Vikrant retorted.

“Vikrant, you’re cheating, and you’re okay with it?” Anika was stunned.

“Yep, because this is how it works, Anika” Vikrant said, storming into his room.

Anika stood there, feeling betrayed. Vikrant was no longer the man she loved and respected. She couldn’t bring herself to trust him. Days passed and Vikrant continued his fraudulent activities while Anika felt the pang of hurt and betrayal. She wanted to talk to him one last time.

“I don’t want to talk, Anika. There’s no use discussing this,” Vikrant said firmly.

“No, we didn’t discuss anything, Vikrant. Whatever you’re doing is wrong,” Anika replied firmly.

“It’s business, it’s all legal here,” Vikrant said.

“But you lost everything you once had. This is unethical. You’re not my Vikrant. I can’t stay with someone who thinks this is okay,” Anika said with determination.

Vikrant’s eyes widened, “You’re leaving me?”

“I’m telling you, Vikrant. I can’t live with you anymore,” Anika said, her heart breaking.

“You’’ leave me?” Vikrant asked.

“There’s no choice you’ve left me,” Anika said, her tone heavy with emotions.

“Goodbye, Vikrant. I hope one day you’ll realize what you’ve lost,” Anika said, her eyes teary.

As she left the house, Anika felt a strange mix of relief and sadness. She had made the hardest yet right decision of her life. One moment had changed her life, she couldn’t stay with a man who had lost his way. She felt lighter, knowing that her life would be better now.
