That Thing About You

This is a book I have won for my own writing so it holds a special place in my heart. The win isn’t tremendous to spread like wild fire but book definitely ignites a small fire within to think about ourselves-our choices, our tendencies, our broodings and sometimes our unnecessary tantrums. It’s a fiction based on mirror talk and supernatural happenings. Things can’t decipher or the ones we call as déjà vu experiences have a purpose and meaning in life. Nothing happens without a reason nor is any happening a mere co-incidence. There is a planning, huge one behind the vibrations of every atom of this universe. Oops! Spilled my take away.  That thing about you is a story of a young man who hears unusual voices in his head after his crush disapproves of him. Is he a schizophrenic? Is someone stalking him? Is there a supernatural power conspiring? It’s only the last chapter that reveals this all without giving the slightest hint of what’s going to unveil. The book is more of a dialogue between the protagonist and the unseen voice. Few characters like his friends, parents and boss do a cameo adding an element of drama. At some time, you wish you too can have a conversation like our hero. Decisions are yours, no judgemental attitude and ability to read your mind; the voice is all we need. The language is simple yet engrossing. One can read and absorb the book in two days flat but the idea or concept stays with you much longer. The opening chapter makes you want to finish the entire book in a go. Such is the potential of our banker turned author Abhaidev( a pen name for Mayank Chandna). Though the book didn’t disappoint me any aspect yet it left me wanting for more; more of reality and relatability for audiences who believe in the NOW than in the THEN.  Occasionally, the book may get confusing like my previous statement but gradually one learns to read between the lines and ponder on the metaphors. Read it yourself to find out what is THAT THING ABOUT YOU that you are missing in life.      Buy the book here:
