The Goodbyes

Goodbyes and hugs before the departure
Were exchanged, some with tears, some with a smile
Knowing that this is only for a while
Their eyes, dreaming of the future
Displaying shades of aspiring colour
The warmth that escorted them to the aisle
Goodbyes
The plane tore through the sky like a vulture,
Until it bursts into flames, shrieks a mile
Engulfing hopes, all efforts seem futile
Death knocked unannounced, fierce and bare
Goodbyes
