The Perfect Bee on Bumble

“I am in love with Abhay. I met him on Bumble. He is a YouTuber with over 1000 subscribers, and his Instagram handle has 1 lakh followers. Watch his videos, and meet him once. I am sure you’ll approve.”  Shekar scowled in disbelief. “Bumble! Is he a beekeeper? Or is he a God-man to have so many followers? I fail to understand. These are times when I wish your mother were alive.” Shekar sat down looking spent. “Ok, ‘boomer’. Let me explain. Abhay Salian is a physiotherapist. He uploads videos/reels of exercises on social media. Bumble is a dating app. I analyzed his profile before swiping right to accept him. I was skeptical at first. But after exchanging messages, I started dating him.” Picking up her lunch box, Siya rushed out as Shekar sat with his hands on his head.  “When you meet the right guy for Siya, there will be a sign and you will know.” Bhavya, his wife used to often console him.  Siya had completed her post-graduation and had just started working when Bhavya succumbed to a severe heart attack.  Brushing away his thoughts Shekar got ready to meet the doctor, with his reports for the persistent knee pain.  Shekar would get anxious easily. When Shekar complained of little aches and pains, “The worry that starts here, manifests here.” Bhavya used to say pointing first to her temples and then towards her body. Siya’s words kept reverberating in his mind.  The doctor studied all the reports. “There is nothing to worry about. The reports are normal. What you need is some simple stretching exercises. I suggest you watch ‘Fit and Fab’. It’s a YouTube channel. The exercises the therapist suggests have proved effective for many of my patients. I know him personally and I am not surprised that he is so successful.”  Once back home, Shekar searched for the videos suggested by the doctor. With one click, a vibrant voice boomed. “Most of the time the problem starts here and manifests here,” he first pointed to his temple and then towards his body. Something stirred within Shekar.  Giving clear instructions he demonstrated exercises for the legs and knees in particular. His smiling face, twinkling eyes, and soothing voice touched Shekar’s heart.  “This is Abhay Salian, your physiotherapist. Please do like, share, and subscribe to my channel for more videos.” Shekar watched with his mouth agape. Abhay? Wasn’t this the guy, Siya mentioned this morning? Shekar checked his other videos and read all the comments. Most of the comments were from senior citizens blessing and appreciating him. He decided to first meet the guy and then concede. “Siya seems to have caught the right bee on Bumble, Bhavya. I married my pen friend and Siya proposes to marry her digital friend.” A broad smile spread over his face. What the ‘boomer’ did not know was that Siya had often eavesdropped on her parents’ conversation and had trained Abhay to repeat her mother’s words.
