Untimely

I was so drunk with our shared youth.
We were dancing, lost to the world,
To the drumbeats of blood flowing through
Our body and soul, entwined together.
No count of time, no fear of space
All was now, all was here.
Our embrace thrummed, like strings of harp,
Like molten metal, we twirled into each other.
We never thought of looking out
Never feared the end was near,
Never knew it was crouching at the curb,
Of our glorious march of light and fire.
It pounced on us, unannounced,
And yanked you out in one fierce pull.
Atom by atom from my flesh and blood,
And threw you out, in bottomless dark.
I thrashed and screamed and groped and gasped,
Your last breath fading from my lungs;
The silk of your skin ebbed out of my skin,
Love, my love, you were still warm.
Me and my heart are now alone
Locked in a mortal combat fierce,
I bleed on her, she bleeds on me
Both deafened by the silence that roars in us.
The eternal waves of Time will roll,
In with the new and out with old,
So much will happen, somewhere, some place,
But we never will meet again, my Love .
